AT&T you suck so bad

March 16th, 2010 by Kim

I have had my IPhone ever since they came out. In the beginning the phones issues and AT&T’s stability was very questionable.

I stayed on board thinking “they will get their act together quick. This is too big for them to screw up”.

Well Apple did their part. The phone is great, almost never goes down or does anything unexpected.

…. But AT&T you still fucking suck. Can’t believe the amount of dropped calls and dead zones I’m having. Apple can’t believe you will associate your brand with such a terrible provider and let them limit the phones ability to work as a modem because they can’t handle it and wants to make even more money on me. Shame on you AT&T

Boating season getting closer, poker break and Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.

March 7th, 2010 by Kim

I can’t wait until I can put my newly renovated boat back on Lake Mead. I just got a brand new short block, new tower speakers, new regular speakers, a new amplifier and a lot of other smaller fixes done.

Living in Las Vegas, spending only about 45 minuttes until hitting the lake from where I live is such a nice and easy ‘getaway’ from the city.

This season I want to get my daughter Olivia up on the wake board, and myself more than shaky legs on the surf board. Other than that, having a good time, and getting as many days on the water as I can.

On another note: My break from poker still feels really good, even on a Sunday where I would normally be playing a load of online tournaments, it only bites a little bit having to give that up, but is easily overwhelmed by me going to the movies today.

I went, along with my daughter Olivia and my friends boy Theis, to see Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. As much as I have seen mixed reviews on IMDB, I simply thought the movie was phenomenal. The movie was visually stunning, the story compelling and the acting was superb. Olivia and Theis seemed to have a very good time as well, so the movie works really well for kids and adults alike.

Here is a trailer for you to enjoy if you haven’t seen it yet.

14 days without poker

March 5th, 2010 by Kim

So I have put myself on a poker break after running bad for a couple of months. 14 days have passed and I actually feel really good about it. It’s a lot easier to reflect on it when not playing. The rules for my break are easy. I can start playing again no earlier than April 1st. But I have to drop 15 pounds of weight first, otherwise the break continues until that goal has been reached too.

Status after 12 days. Dropped 5 pounds and 0 hands of poker played.

A lot has happened since last time

September 10th, 2009 by Kim

Sorry about the loooong break since my last post, but I have been very busy, traveling to visit my family and friends in Denmark. Working a lot, as well as playing a lot of poker.

It was very nice being back in Denmark, especially seeing all my family and friends. Besides seeing a lot of familiar faces, I gained about 10 pounds eating a see food diet (I see food, and I eat it). It is not very often I get to eat all my favorite dishes over the course of 3 weeks. Here I tried the best I could getting everything more than once :-)

During my stay I managed to get 3rd in the $109 rebuy on Pokerstars, as well as winning the $50K guaranteed on Full TIlt, profiting more than $25K in the 3 weeks on vacation. Not bad.

Getting back to Vegas, the poker was going my way as well, meaning that I couldn’t take down anything whatsoever, but I managed to get a 50/50 split with my good friend Lars Bonding, just at the right time, taking down 4th in the $109 rebuy tournament on Sunday, and getting 3rd in the Sunday Warmup, for a whopping $90K+ profit on that one day. Really not bad at all.

Since then I have been working a lot with my online advertising agency in Las Vegas called Addvisors. On top of that, I have been trying to keep my heater alive, with less than great results. At least until tonight, where I won the $109 nightly turbo tournament on Pokerstars for another $7400.

Tomorrow, Tom has invited me and Malene on the Lake, and I think Lars and Esther will be joining us out there, for a day of sun, swimming, wakeboarding, boating etc.

Until next time.

Heading to The Bellagio

July 27th, 2009 by Kim

I haven’t played live cash games in a very long time. I have not really been motivated to do so, and honestly have not been playing my A-game the last few times i was playing live cash. Why? Well, I think it all boils down to me being over confident sitting down at the table, thinking I need to push everybody around, playing way to many hands, paying off way to many bets thinking that they never have it…THEY ALWAYS HAVE IT!!

Well, my strategy today is playing basic good aggresive tight poker, and hopefully do as I always do, get people to pay me on every street, simply because they think I don’t have it..TODAY I AM GOING TO HAVE IT EVERY TIME!!

Hopefully my next post will be about how well I did, but we’ll see. I’ll keep you posted no matter what.

Going to Lake Mead tomorrow

July 9th, 2009 by Kim

One of my favorite getaways is a day at Lake Mead. My good friend Tom has a wake board boat, as well as a jet ski, and being out there in the sun for a day, almost feels like a weeks vacation.

I’m finally getting the grasp of wakeboarding, feeling comfortable on the board, so I’m hoping that tomorrow will be even better for me in that regard.

Lake Mead is only about 25-30 minuttes from the Las Vegas strip by car. You can learn more about the lake, go to the official Lake Mead website

Here are some videos from Lake Mead, I will be adding my own after tomorrow:

No poker today for me :-(

June 27th, 2009 by Kim

So I was planning to play the $1500 WSOP event today at the Rio, but at 11 AM I got a phone call, telling me the tournament was sold out :-(

It is all my fault, all the other tournaments, I signed up the day before, but every tournament I played were only close to being sold out. So yesterday when I was at the MGM Grand with my friend Michael, I decided not to spend the 15 minuttes going over to the Rio signing up. BIG MISTAKE!

Well, I was all prepared for a long day at the poker table, so I decided to go play the $500 Deep Stack tournament at The Venetian. Another BIG MISTAKE!

When I got there at 11.55 AM, there was a line, at least 500 feet long. waiting to sign up for the tournament. Ofcourse all the people not being able to play at the Rio, had hurried over, as me, to play The Venetian $500 Deep Stack t0urnament.

I decided to hang out for a while, as I also needed to get myself a new players card, otherwise being unable to sign up anyways. At 12.30, the line had grown, and was now stretching all the way down through the casino, almost reaching the table games.

I can take a hint. I was not supposed to play poker today. Now I’m hanging out with my family and friend Michael, so it is not all that bad :-)

PPA

June 23rd, 2009 by Claus

First of all, I am sorry Michael for pushing your music video off the top of the page. I have been patient waiting for someone else to do it, but nobody seems to be in a writing mood.

Second, I am an old grumpy guy (not saying that I am pushing Tom off that throne, but almost as old and almost as grumpy), and as an old grumpy guy I have to write stuff befitting of such a person. I was recently looking at some information regarding the PPA – Poker Players Alliance, and my mind started to wander off, which it often does.

The idea behind the PPA was to have an organization that would protect the rights of poker players, as a sort of union, with members that would set the agenda. The main focus at present time of this so called alliance is to legallize poker in the US. I am definitely for legal internet poker, so I am not arguing against the PPA. I am just worried that this organization is nothing more than a front for the major internet poker sites. I received a mail from Pokerstars about a freeroll if I signed a PPA petition.

The PPA is mainly funded by poker sites and my worry is that when we get beyond the right to play poker, this organization will be another tool of the major poker sites and not the much needed union style organization players so badly need to argue for their rights. The rights I am mostly referring to that goes against the sites is an arbitration forum that will make sure Players get a fair shake from the sites. We see way too often that The poker sites (and yes this is also Full Tilt and Poker Stars) simply ignore the individual players and they refuse to listen to players arguments whenever problems arise. One thing is that the major sites have very limited regulations to adhere to, another is that they couldn’t care about the individual player. It is not until the individual creates some buzz in the forums and internet news sites that the sites do anything to address the issues, and that is simply not good enough.

One example of this is the Ultimate Bet Scandal. Nothing from the PPA’s side was done to try to help the people (Players) who had been cheated. There was almost no info and no way to obtain info from the poker site. Now Annie Duke is very active in the PPA, but she (and Hellmuth, both of whom I would risk my bankroll on have shares in the company) said absolutely nothing about this matter. This is of great concern to me. It is kind of Ironic that the big 3 sites are all licensed in locations with little to no regulation and almost no process for cheated customers to complain.

My hope is that once we get to legal online poker in the US, then the PPA will try to make sure thast the customers (Players) are protected. This means that the PPA will all of the sudden argue against the companies that are currently funding it’s existence. Another problem is that the people embedded in and associated with the PPA are people like Howard Lederer, Annie Duke, Greg Raymer etc, all very good people, but with too close ties to the poker sites (Raymer is only a sponsored player, whereas the other two have likely ownership interests in the poker sites they represent).

I guess my reasoning for writing this story is to make sure poker players (all 3) reading this blog will be aware of this as soon as our common interest is achieved.

Long live the players,

Claus
