$200 rebuy on Pokerstars

Monday, April 27th, 2009

So, yesterday, after another sunday playing online poker with very little success, I decided to play the $200 rebuy on Pokerstars as my last tournament of the day.

Close to the money I am second in chips, very close to being first, when the following hand occurs.

I raise UTG with

The chipleader calls on the button, and the big blind calls.

Flop:

Even though the flop did not hit me, I decide that it should be a good flop to represent on, as my hand could definately have hit that board, so I fire 2/3 of the pot. The button (chipleader) calls me, and the big blind folds.

Turn:

Now all of the sudden, I have a double belly buster, and the since the button did not raise, I put him on a fairly week holding, like a semi weak ace. I fire 1/2 the pot. The button calls me again.

River:

GIN!

I now decide that I want to look like I’m bluffing, rather than have a made hand, and I go ALL-IN! The chipleader insta-calls me, with a flopped set of 7’s.

I now have the dominating chiplead, which holds up until just before the final table.

The final table was unfortunately not working at all for me. I lost all-in preflop with:

AK vs A6
A5 vs A3
A6 vs 89
and finally busted in 5th place with:
Q10 vs 99, flopping my queen, but with him turning a devistating 9.

I’m fairly happy with the result, as I did not make any mistakes, but just got sucked out on, on top of that, the final table was packed with players that are concidered the best in the world.

Hopefully I will have an even better story next sunday :-)

Vegas shortcuts – Caesars Palace

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

I’m going to post some of the shortcuts we use, getting much faster to the major casinos. Using the strip, will by default, always be much much slower than using the back roads. So in the map below, you will se the red line illustrating the obvious route, and the blue which normally will be much faster.

Shortcut to Caesars Palace Las Vegas

The normal route:
In this case, getting to Caesars Palace, can take forever using the normal route, coming from the south, as you will have to go on flamingo, coming from the I15. From there you will have to take a left turn onto The Strip, which especially on Fridays will take a very long time. It will not be uncommon to spend 15-20 minuttes after you exited I15, before you hit the Caesars valet.

The shortcut:
Exiting the I15 1 exit before this, at the Tropicana / Frank Sinatra exit, and going north on Frank Sinatra untill you make a right turn on Jay Sarno (NB. Thanks for the edit Malene), will bring you in using the back road, and even better bring you into the much faster, less known Gold Valet, located in the back of the Casino, close to the Forum shops.
I would expect using this shortcut, saves you at least 10 minuttes on average.

I’m a simple guy…Dinner at Joel Robuchon

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

So a few days ago, on me and Malenes 7th year wedding anniversary, we decided to go all-in, and visit the award winning and only 3 michelin star winning restaurant in Las Vegas Joel Robuchon located inside the MGM Grand we went there with our good friends Lars & Esther. To put it lightly, we all like good food, and was all excited about going there for the first time.

Although the place is stunning in it’s decor, food presentation and service, I must say I was rather disappointed. I had the 12 course menu which cost more than a used Hyundai, exactly $385 without any hidden extras, like eg. a used Hyundai

Granted, the food was not bad, but with the opportunities for excellent food in Las Vegas at a much lower cost, I expected something more. I will admit that the food might have been to advanced for my simple taste, but the opnion from Malene, Lars & Esther was almost the same.

The total cost, after 11 diet cokes, 2 glasses of champagne, 2 waters = $1700 + tips.

I am happy to have tried it, but I think Joel has seen the last of me.

Should you have a few thousand dollars that you otherwise don’t know what to do with, go ahead and try it, but I wish I bought a used Hyundai insted.

Professional Clean Out Services At M!

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

So once again we hit the M resort, for some friday night cash games. and once again I must say, the $ 1/2 No Limit is JUICY! We started out a little slow( Nikolaj & Me), going up, then down, and then the professional clean out services kicked in. Over all a good night I made $750 profit, and Nikolaj $400, plus ALL the drinks, not to mention those great artificial balloon services those cocktail waitresses have….. :o ) So for now the best $1/2 NL Hold’em in town, and definitely the most inflated pokerroom.
